3/25 POD #26 > Sometimes mathing is hard

It is POD #26!!

Sometimes mathing is hard

POD #26 means 26 days since surgery.
26 days = 3 weeks + 5 days since surgery.

Why is this important?

Today is the FIRST day I will be seeing MY plastic surgeon SINCE he put in my expanders 😲🤯

The only reason this is happening is because I had previously demanded to see a MD after my ER stay.

In an attempt to use my connections, I had emailed a woman, Lisa, I met (via the phone)  to see if she could get me in. I ended up not hearing from her, which was uncommon.

Yesterday, however, she called.
She had been out sick but was determined to rectify the situation.

I had informed her I was able to get in (by my own bull-headedness) and informed her that an MD did indeed perform a drive-by and put his hands on me as requested 😅

She wasn't pleased with the drive-by.

I had an appointment coming up that Wednesday - it was currently Monday - with a PA again.

"Dr. Morrissey has an opening on Tuesday. I think you should take it. We can keep Wednesday in the event he wants you to go to that one too, but I am putting you in with him tomorrow."

I agree and we hang up.

She calls back.

"I talked to Dr. Morrissey. We are canceling Wednesday. He will take care of everything tomorrow."

Lisa, you are the BEST!

I was SO glad to see my surgeon.

It was his handiwork literally.
He is the one with yearsssss of experience with my diagnosis and exact procedure.
I haven't wanted a specific male's hands or eyes on me in such a bad way for quite some time🤣😆

Due to my upcoming surgery (tomorrow) the expander on my right side needed to be deflated so the surgical oncologist could work in the space without compromising the integrity of the expander.

Dr. Morrissey could not remember how much he put in the expanders during the initial surgery so I was super curious as these things felt and looked so big! Obviously not that I had ANY previous experience but I didn't expect to look like I actually had boobs when I first woke up!

He drained 300cc's!
No wonder I’ve been so sore!!!!

It’s pretty cool how they do it. First they use a magnet to find the "button" on the expander. This button is where they insert the needle when they do fills or if they need to deflate.

As I don't really have sensation, it just felt like pressure, really. The most uncomfortable I felt is when he had the MA just press and hold on my expander multiple times to help him while he was sucking out the fluid.

Dr. Morrissey ended up leaving about 50cc's in there, as he said he risked creating a pneumothorax if the needle accidentally punctured me. Leaving 50cc's it is then!

Hopefully, it would be deflated enough so the surgical oncologist could work her magic and get the rest of my lymph nodes!

Later that afternoon I had an echo - nothing too exciting here except for the fact it brought me back when I was having US to hear the heartbeats of my boys 💙💙 but obviously this time it was my heart.

Seeing the wall motions of the chambers of my heart, plus watching the valves, was kinda a geek-out nerd 🤓moment for me.
