Today was a big day - in the grand scheme of things.
First, a homecare RN came to visit. Oddly enough, I know her and was grateful for that.
Pause. I say oddly I know her, but let me digress for a minute.
Story time:
Growing up, we couldn't go anywhere without my mom knowing someone. I would give her restrictions, "Ok you get 20-30sec per person you see." Otherwise our outings would last twice as long.
Well, fast forward, I became my mother.
Most noteably:
*On our honeymoon, in Antigua (!!), I ran into a colleague from one of the hospitals in Philadelphia I worked at.
*In the MIDDLE of the GRAND CANYON, I ran into women that I knew from the gym in Harleysville my GVH office had been in!!
So I guess the fact that I knew a local health care professional that also happens to live in my neighborhood, wasn't quite so odd.
The end.
The RN was phenomenal. Made phone calls for clarification on dressing changes, ability to shower and get a new bra, answered questions, and got down to business while being gracious, professional, and kind.
Then mom and I went for a walk!
"Mom. I AM going for a walk. You can either stay here or come with me."
We all know what she choose.
While I didn't make it far - I started to feel short of breath and a smidge lightheaded - it still felt SO good.
We got home, re-grouped, and then my mom announced she was going to run a couple of errands for me.
"With me?"
"Honey, I don't think you should go."
"I'm coming."
She obliged as she later told me, she had assumed I would stay in the car.
Well...I don't have to tell you what they say about assuming.
In and out of Kohls for some returns and a couple order pick-ups.
In and out of UPS for some returns.
Into TJ Maxx for some returns...and "I just want to see if they have crocs for Logan" turned into, Shoes for me? Deodorant wipes for my pits? Clothes for the boys? Ohh Easter basket goodies! Then...
"MOM. I need the keys. Please just give me the keys I have to go to the car now." Honestly, not quite sure I was going to make it to the car as of course I had requested she park far away with no cars around - I mean come on she was driving my Tahoe.
"What?! What's the matter?!"
Her arms full of returns and new purchases..."I'm coming with you. Or what do you want me to do??"
"I'm ok, just get to the register please."
God forbid we didn't complete the return and we just left all my finds for someone else!
I "rushed" out and made it to the car - opening the door wasn't something I had considered but I managed. I laid myself across the back seats, elevating my legs, and taking slow, deep (as possible) breaths.
My poor mom.
She comes out rushing to the car.
"You gave me a heart attack!! What is wrong?!"
"I felt like I was going to pass out."
"Your sister is going to kill me."
